American video artist and filmmaker Sadie T. Benning began her career as a teenager in the late 1980s, when she began recording short, experimental videos. She is known for her handheld camera work, often exploring unconventional perspectives and themes seen through the eyes of a teenage outsider. Some of her best-known works include 'Me and Rubyfruit' (1989), 'Jollies' (1990) and 'It Wasn't Love' (1992). Sadie Benning has also participated in a variety of art projects, including group exhibitions at the New Museum in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.

Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander was an American civil rights activist, lawyer, and the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in economics in the United States. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania as one of the few African-American women of her time. She later became the first African American woman to earn a doctorate in the economic field. Throughout her career, she advocated for equal rights for women and minorities, and was a major civil rights activist. She also worked as a lawyer for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and was the first African-American woman to be admitted to the Pennsylvania bar.

Sarah 'Sadie' G. Koninsky was an American composer, music publisher, and music pedagogue. She wrote numerous waltzes, marches, cakewalks and rags, some under the male pseudonym Jerome Hartman. She is said to have been the first white woman to capture the mood of African-American ragtime with her 1896 'Eli Green's Cake Walk'. 'Eli Green's Cake Walk' (with lyrics by Dave Reed) became very famous and was the first cake walk by a female composer. She composed over 40 pieces in her lifetime.
