Zachary means ‘God remembers’ or ‘God remembers the Lord’. It is the English form of the Hebrew name Zechariah, which is composed of two elements: ‘Zachar’ meaning ‘to remember’ and ‘yah’ meaning ‘God’. The name appears in the Bible in the Old Testament. Zechariah was the name of a prophet, and the father of John the Baptist.
