Together with [Camillo Golgi he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1906, becoming the first person of Spanish origin to win a scientific Nobel Prize. Because of his work on the microscopic structure of the brain he is considered a pioneer of modern neuroscience hundreds of his drawings of the arborizations of brain cells are still in use.

Santiago Calatrava Valls is a Spanish architect, structural engineer, sculptor and painter, particularly known for his eyecatching designs of bridges, railway stations, stadiums, and museums.
